Delete your account

Last updated October 1, 2026

You can delete your Living Sword account, and the data that goes with it, whenever you like. Do it yourself in the app, or ask us by email.

Delete it in the app

  1. Open Living Sword and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Tap You in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Read the message, then tap Delete forever.

Your account is deleted as soon as you confirm, and you are signed out. This cannot be undone.

If your version of the app looks different, look for Delete account at the bottom of the settings screen, or email us.

Ask us by email

If you cannot open the app, or no longer have it, email support@livingsword.app from the address you sign in with and ask us to delete your account. “Delete my account” in the subject is enough.

If you cannot write from that address, tell us, and we will find another way to check that the account is yours. We check so that nobody can delete an account that is not theirs.

Once we have checked, we delete the account the same way the app does, and reply to let you know it is done.

What is deleted

All of this is removed from our servers when the account is deleted:

  • Your profile: your name, email address, photo and settings
  • Your prayers
  • Your prayer journal: entries, topics and the AI improved versions
  • Journal voice recordings and read aloud prayer audio saved by newer versions of the app
  • Your questions in Ask the Bible, and their answers
  • Your daily path
  • Your reading progress, streaks, points and achievements
  • Your notes and memory verses
  • Your music favourites, playlists and listening history
  • Your friends list and friend requests
  • Your place in groups, and what you posted in them: posts, reactions, comments, prayer requests and chat messages
  • Testimonies you shared, and your comments and likes
  • Your answers to the questions the app asked when you started, and your notifications
  • Any unused prayers on your account. They cannot be moved to another account.

If you started a group, the group is deleted too, for everyone in it, with its posts, prayer requests and sessions.

What is kept

  • Payment records. We keep a record of each purchase, website payment and donation: what it was for, when, the amount and the receipt number from the store or from Stripe. We need these for our accounts and tax. Records of app purchases keep an internal account number, but not your name or email address. Records of website payments include the notices Stripe sends us, which show the name and email address you gave at checkout.
  • Records other services hold under their own privacy policies: Apple, Google, Stripe and RevenueCat (which manages app subscriptions for us) about payments made through them; Pushwoosh about your phone, with the account ID, reminder settings and app activity it received while notifications were on; and TikTok about installs, sign ups, first prayers and purchases that came from our ads (on iPhone, only if you allowed tracking).
  • Journal voice recordings and read aloud prayer audio saved by older versions of the app. Those versions saved the files without your account in their name, so deleting the account does not find them. Email us, before you delete your account if you can, and we will remove them.
  • Words you sent to the AI features were passed to Google Gemini, OpenRouter or OpenAI to write a reply or read a prayer aloud. Any copies they keep follow their own policies, not ours.
  • What other people wrote. For example, their posts in a group someone else started stay in that group.
  • Reports other people made about something you posted. We keep the report, with a copy of the reported words, so we can follow it up. It is no longer linked to your account.
  • An email address you gave our old website for early access or with a feature idea. These were never part of your account. Email us if you want them removed.
  • Server logs and database backups can hold traces of the account for a short time, until they are replaced.

On your phone

Highlights and bookmarks are saved only on your phone, not with us. Removing the app clears them from your phone.

Starting again later

You can make a new account with the same email address later. Nothing from the deleted account comes back.

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why. Questions about deleting your data can go to support@livingsword.app.
