About Living Sword

Living Sword is a prayer and Bible app for iPhone and Android. It helps you pray with Scripture: you say what you are facing, and it builds a prayer around passages that speak to it.

Where does the name come from?

From two passages. Hebrews 4:12 says the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Ephesians 6:17 calls the word of God the sword of the Spirit. The Bible is the sword. The app only helps you pick it up.

How do we read the Bible?

In context, before anything else. For every passage we ask who wrote it, who it was written to, what was happening, and what it meant to the people who first heard it. Only then do we ask what it means for us.

Living Sword is non-denominational. Our summaries aim to be useful across Christian traditions. Where Christians disagree about a passage, we show the passage and say that they disagree. The guides to each book of the Bible are written this way.

Who writes what is on this site?

Everything here is published by Living Sword. Our lessons use AI-assisted drafting and source checks. They link to the passages behind their explanations; interpretations and historical dates can be debated. Scripture on this site is quoted word for word from the New King James Version and is never reworded.

Does the app use AI?

Yes, and we would rather say so plainly. When you ask for a prayer, the app uses AI to find passages and shape the prayer around them. Every verse is quoted and referenced, so you can open your Bible and read it for yourself. AI can make mistakes, so check the references and read the passages for yourself. It is a help for praying. It does not pray for you, and it is no replacement for reading the Bible on your own.
